Can the internal coating be repaired or repainted?
Sure.
Based on the actual service conditions of drill pipes, locally damaged or worn internal coatings may be inspected, repaired, or re-coated.
Prior to repair, a comprehensive inspection will be conducted to assess internal corrosion, wall thickness, the condition of the existing coating, and the overall structural integrity. Following surface treatment, an FBE internal coating will be reapplied, and curing will be carried out under rigorously controlled process conditions to restore the component’s corrosion resistance, wear resistance, and fluid‑flow‑optimizing performance.
Regular inspection and timely repair of the internal coating help extend the service life of drill pipes and enhance the operational reliability of the drilling system.
How to choose the right internal coating?
The selection of the internal coating should comprehensively consider factors such as well depth, drilling environment, drilling fluid system, operating temperature, corrosion severity, circulation rate, and expected service life.
Hebei Langwei offers four FBE internal coating systems with varying performance grades to meet diverse drilling requirements:
LPC3000P: Suitable for conventional oil and gas wells, water wells, and geothermal wells;
LPC3000P-HD: Suitable for deep wells, horizontal wells, extended-reach wells (ERD), and highly abrasive operating conditions;
LPC5000P: Suitable for deep wells, ultra-deep wells, and drilling operations with stringent requirements for hydraulic efficiency and service life;
LPC5000P-HD: Suitable for high‑temperature, high‑pressure (HPHT) wells, sour gas and oil wells (H₂S/CO₂), and other extreme drilling environments.

What internal coating systems do you offer?
Hebei Langwei offers four distinct performance‑grade fusion‑bonded epoxy (FBE) powder coating systems for drill pipe interiors, catering to a variety of drilling conditions:
LPC3000P: Suitable for conventional oil and gas wells, water wells, geothermal wells, and standard drilling operations;
LPC3000P-HD: Suitable for deep wells, horizontal wells, shale oil and gas wells, and highly abrasive operating conditions, offering superior wear resistance.
LPC5000P: Suitable for deep wells, ultra-deep wells, and high-temperature, complex operating conditions, particularly for projects with stringent requirements for wear resistance, hydraulic efficiency, and service life.
LPC5000P-HD: Designed for ultra-deep wells, high-pressure/high-temperature (HPHT) wells, sour gas wells (H2S/CO2), and other extreme drilling environments, it delivers exceptional wear and corrosion resistance as well as long-term operational reliability.
Why do drill pipes require an internal coating?
During drilling, the inner wall of the drill pipe is continuously subjected to erosion by drilling fluid, solid particles, and corrosive media. Without effective protection, issues such as internal-wall corrosion, erosive wear, and increased flow resistance are likely to occur.
Adopting an FBE internal coating can provide the following advantages:

What is an inner coating for drill pipes?
Internal Coating is a high-performance protective layer applied to the inner wall of drill pipe using fusion-bonded epoxy (FBE). It serves to resist corrosion, erosion, and wear caused by drilling fluids, cuttings, and corrosive media, while also enhancing the flow characteristics of the drilling fluid.
Compared with conventional drill pipes, coated‑in‑pipe drill pipes feature a smoother inner surface, which reduces flow resistance and pressure loss, minimizes scale buildup, enhances circulation efficiency, and effectively extends the service life of the drill pipe. They are widely used in oil and gas drilling, geothermal wells, water wells, and other complex drilling operations.
